What Measles cases means for your infant!

There have been documented cases of Measles in our community recently.  As part of the ongoing response, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and local health departments are recommending infants aged 6–11 months receive an early dose of MMR vaccine in addition to the routine 12-15 month and later doses. This accelerated recommendation aligns with CDC and local outbreak guidance to help reduce transmission and protect vulnerable populations during an active outbreak setting.

This outbreak-specific accelerated dosing strategy is intended to provide short-term protection in the setting of local transmission and should be paired with adherence to case surveillance and reporting.

This dose does not count as a valid routine dose and should be followed by two subsequent valid doses once the infant reaches 12 months of age. A minimum interval of 4 weeks is recommended between the early dose and the first valid dose.

Please call our office at 480-792-1012 to schedule a shot visit to receive the MMR or if needed, schedule their next well visit.  Well child appointments can be scheduled on the patient portal as well: go to https://childrensoasispediatrics.com and click Patient Info at the top of the home page- scroll down to Patient Portal.
