Pediatric Minor Surgical Procedures for Children
Safe, Skilled Pediatric Care at Children’s Oasis Pediatrics
At Children’s Oasis Pediatrics, we know that even small medical procedures can feel big when they involve your child. Our team—Dr. Sharon Novy and Dr. Katherine Krieg—provide safe, gentle, and evidence-based care for minor surgical needs right here in our pediatric office.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that pediatric minor surgical procedures for infants and children be done by trained pediatric professionals who understand a child’s unique medical needs. Our office follows these guidelines to keep your child comfortable and safe.
Circumcision for Newborns (Up to 3 Weeks of Age)
Newborn Circumcision • Safe Pediatric Procedure • Infant Care
We offer newborn circumcision for babies up to 3 weeks old.
Our approach focuses on:
- A calm, warm environment
- Safe pain control
- Careful technique
- Clear after-care instructions for parents
The AAP states that the health benefits of newborn circumcision outweigh the risks when done by trained professionals. We are experienced in performing this procedure and supporting parents through the decision and after-care process.
Medical Ear Piercing
Sterile Ear Piercing • Pediatric Ear Piercing • Safe for Children
Ear piercing is a personal milestone for many families. In our office, we offer medical ear piercing using sterile equipment and child-friendly techniques.
Benefits of medical ear piercing include:
- A clean, medical environment
- Single-use sterile piercing system
- Comfort-focused care
- Guidance on preventing infection
This service is perfect for families who want a safe, pediatric-based option instead of a mall kiosk. We only pierce ages 3 years and up, and we require proof of vaccines, per the AAP vaccine schedule.
Minor Laceration Management
Stitches for Kids • Cuts and Scrapes • Pediatric Wound Care
Kids get bumps, cuts, and scrapes—it’s part of growing up.
We provide evaluation and treatment for minor injuries, including:
- Cleaning and closing small cuts
- Skin adhesive (glue) when appropriate
- Steri-strips or stitches
- Pain control to help keep your child comfortable
We also make sure you know how to care for the wound at home. Following AAP-supported pediatric wound care guidelines helps reduce infection and improve healing.
Removal of Stitches or Staples
Stitch Removal • Pediatric Follow-Up Care • Wound Healing
